Windows

This is just another simple trick to Hide / Make your folder invisible in Windows XP without changing folder options. (Not Working in Vista, Never tried in Linux). This is very useful specially when you are using shared PC like your home desktop and you don’t want anyone to see private stuff (porns ^_^) and you don’t want to use softwares to make your folder private / password protected because it will really look obvious.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Create New Folder
    • Right Click » New » Folder
  2. Move the folder where nobody would expect it.
  3. Rename the newly created folder
    • Right Click “New Folder” » Rename
    • Alternatively you can just click the folder and press “F2? to Rename it
  4. Rename the Folder using these steps
    • Hold ALTkey then type
    • 0 1 6 0
    • Release the “ALT” key. You now have a nameless folder
  5. Customize the Icon
    • Right Click the nameless folder » Properties » Customize Tab » Change Icon
    • You will see Icon choices, look for “Blank Icons” and choose it, the icon will be highlighted.
