For those of you that bought HP Pavilion dv2000 series Laptops with Vista pre-installed I guess you are also having a hard time on what OS to install to make your laptop run smooth. With my HP Pavilion DV2715nr, I already tried to downgrade Vista to Windows XP but at the end I restored it back to Vista. I also tried and installed Ubuntu Linux but in the end I restored it back to Vista. In other words, HP Pavilion DV2715nr is meant for Vista alone since I want to utilize all of it’s feature and it will only work in Vista.
If you really don’t like Vista, then don’t buy HP Pavilion notebook laptops with pre-installed Vista in the first place although majority of the pre-installed OS now in all notebooks are vista so you don’t have really a choice. In any case you still want to use other OS, I suggest that DON’T Remove Vista from your Hard Disk just make a new partition and have a Dual-Boot OS.
I dont need to make a new tutorial on how to Dual boot Vista and XP since there are so many existing tutorials such as these sites:

But I do suggest the following:
- Create first Vista / HP Recovery Disk
- Remove Unecessary Program / Softwares / Files in Vista using Add Remove Program Tools or CCleaner
- I suggest you retain QuickPla
- Remove other pre-installed Softwares (Office Trial, Cyberlink Suite, Anti-Virus etc…
- Defrag your hard disk before making new parition. You can use AusLogic Disk Defrag
- After you already finished the boot part, I suggest you make Windows Vista as seconday boot option only since it will just be your backup OS / Quickplay.

It’s been awhile since that my last post I’ve been too busy lately with my Job and too little time to think about blogging. Anyways I’m still thinking if whether I’m going to sell my HP Pavilion DV2715nr to buy HP Mini 1001TU or just keep it but with my post above I realized that I want a new HP Mini 1001Tu netbook. ^_^
