They say that Quickplay 3 is Vista only compatible, but somehow I found a way to install Quickplay 3.0 in Windows XP with just simple steps. I have tried this on my HP Pavilion dv2715nr Windows XP SP3 Installed.
It is possible to install HP Quickplay 3 in Windows XP following the steps below:
- Download Quickplay Registry fix [ DOWNLOAD ] to get rid of Not Authorized Machine error
- Download HP Quickplay 3 [ DOWNLOAD v3.63 ] you can also download Quickplay 3.7 but I don’t have the link yet.
- Extract the downloaded file ( HP-QuickPlay.exe ) to C:\SWSetup\QP3 using winrar.
- Download and Extract setup.inx file into C:\SWSetup\QP3 [ DOWNLOAD setup.inx ]
- Run HP Quickplay setup.exe and wait for the installation to complete.
- (Optional) edit registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Cyberlink > Quickplay: then change version to 3.0
Some Screenshots:
* If you followed the Optional Step above you’ll see your Quickplay Version is 3.0 otherwise it will be version 2.3 since the setup.inx was taken from Quickplay 2.3 version.

hmmm. have you try to run this: http://toomuchfew.info/files/softwares/qp.reg ? just double click it and press ok to add to registry.
I appreciate you work on the QuickPlay problem.
The regedit utility you provide doesn’t seem to load on my XP machine. and I am not proficient enough to complete the manual edit routine.
THERE IS NO “CYBERLINK” KEY IN THE “LOCAL MACHINE>SOFTWARE” LOCATION.
So, if you want to waste a min or two on an old topic, I could use the help.
Thank you,

well, forget that. I doubleclicked – installed – each of the *.reg entries in the QP3 directory. Now I have the Cyberlink key in the Software Reg. There is no reference to the version, however.
Will reboot and try again.
printed the “qp.reg” file. There is a key “QPFlag” but it is barren. Could this be the problem? Maybe I just need to know how to complete the dword entry.
