PSP 5.50 GEN-B2 Custom Firmware Update

Upgrade your 5.03 M33-6 custom firmware to 5.50 GEN-B to play latest PSP Games release. Take not that this is for PSP with M33 Custom Firmwares only.

PART 1 – Upgrading to 5.50 GEN-A

1. Download CFW 5.50 GEN-A Full (Download Here)
2. Connect your PSP to your PC via USB mode
3. Extract the file in to your PSP Memory Stick root folder (eg. :/ )
4.  Exit PSP to USB Mode and go to Memory Stick then Games. You should have now the 5.50 Gen-A as shown on screenshot below:

   

5. Run 5.50 Gen-A. make sure you have atleast 70% battery remaining and plugin your charger for precaution.
6. Read the instruction and press X to continue
7. Your psp will now be on the Update Screen.
8. After the update is complete, your PSP will restart automatically.

PART 2 – Updating to 5.50 GEN-B2

1. Download 5.50 GEN-B and GEN-B2 Update (GEN-B) and (GEN-B2)
2. Connect your PSP to your PC via USB mode
3. Extract both files in to your Memory Stick
4. Exit PSP to USB Mode and go to Memory Stick then Games
   1. Run 5.50 GEN-B then,
   2. Run 5.50 GEN-B2 
5. After all of the steps are done, you can now delete all the files you downloaded to your memory stick

   maganda ba magupgrade sa GEN? ano mga disadvantage?

   @Hyperion, actually there’s no need to upgrade your PSP Version to GEN if you already have 5.03 M33-6 since there are already patches for new games that requires higher firmware. You can also try to upgrade since there is a way you can revert back to M33 from GEN

   oo nga, gen b full pa rin yung sakin. were you able to make nba live 10 work on your psp? already at 5.5 gen b but still not working. help please. thanks!

   Guys! GEN-C is already out but it have several issues. Well just wait for the GEN-D which will be release soon.

   ShuShine, pwede pa-help. di ko ma play nba live 10 ko e. 5.5gen b2 naman ako and na change ko na iso setting to sony from m33. still not working. THanks!

    ok na ba ito for psp3000 users? medyo d kasi ako marunong pagdating sa mga computers e. currently using system software 5.03 m33-6 so i just need to follow yung instructions mo para malaro ko na yung mga new games?

    @ ShuShine, bro i just got it from a friend na hindi niya rin napagana. pero the filename states that it works for 5.5 Gen B or 5.00 m33

    “NBA Live 10 (Gen B 5.5) (5.00 M33).cso”

    Custom firmware 5.50GEN-D now out, i’ll post a how to, after a tried it on my psp and check if everything is ok.

    Thanks man for such a useful post. I wanted to upgrade my FW from 3.90 M33 to FW 5.50 GEN-D. But first I had to upgrade to 5.50 (Which I found on your website)….

    help naman mga experts. im playing FF7 sa psp ko kaso ayaw magload ng save game ko. ano b ang dapat kong gawin para macontinue ko yung game ko. after ko magsave ng game nagquit game ako tpos nung open ko uli d ko nman maload yung save file ko.

    psensya na magkakasunod ang post ko. sino sa inyo meron game na xenogears na nakaeboot na pa upload nman pls. corrupted files kasi halos lahat ng nadownload ko e.

    tska ano p b rpg games ang recommend niyo na gagana sa PSP with no hassle??

    I have a psp 2004 with 5.03 m33-6 and i try to put on the 5.50 gen-a but, after i run it it says “the game could not be started. (80020001)”.
    can u pls tell me what do I have to do?

    5.00 m33 ung sa akin… ok lng bang i upgrade ko sa GEN?… gusto ko kasing laruin ung naruto shippuden legends of akatsuki rising eh… hindi nmn kaya masira PSP ko…? thanks…

    yo man! wat the differences of 5.00 GEN-2B with my current version of 5.00 M33-6…..coze i cant play some new games, so this new GEN-2B will enable it? thx in advance… u web site so helpfull..

    ako po.. 5.50 gen b pero pag ini-start ko ung crimson room reverse, and cnsbe, GMAE COULD NOT BE STARTED. (80020321). help po..

    the latest GEN custom firmware can play newer games but you can also find new games that can be played on M33-6 since it’s already patched. When downloading games look for the title with fix, m33, patched etc…. so you don’t have to patch it yourself.

    Hi gurus, I have a PSP slim with me. Inscripted under my psp is PSP2006. And it’s using ChickHEN 5.03 M33-6 Firmware. I want to try Gran Turismo and Assasins Creed II: Bloodlines… kailangan ko pa po ba mag switch to 5.50 Gen-B2? Is it safe para sa PSP ko? Thanks for the kind advice! Have a great day!

    Hi Matt, if the game you downloaded is already patched, it will be playable on 5.03 M33-6. otherwise you need to have 5.50 Gen

    sorry bro, I think there’s no existing tool yet to update your psp2006 with firmware v6.20 to custom firmware to play iso/cso games.

    tried the Gran Turismo and the console hanged… i think 5.50 Gen D FW will do but am not sure if it’s safe with my PSP2006… Please advise. Thanks!

    @matt, if you are using HEN custom firmware enabler you cannot update to 5.50 gen D CFW. just wait for the upcoming 5.03 HEN update.

    psp FAT or SLIM(what model and version???) and why po?? pros cons?

    ano pong firmware ang pede sa psp 3000 bukod sa 5.03 M33-6 d po kasi ako makapaglaro ng mga latest games eh!!!!
