Changing Default Web Browser Without Affecting Other User Accounts June 23, 2008
Posted by Jeffrey Vergara in : Downloads, Windows , add a commentIf you’re sharing computer with your family or friends, most likely you’ll have a conflict of favorite default web browser problem. Let’s say you like to use Firefox and you’ve set it as your default browser. When your brother logs in to his user account and runs Internet Explorer, he’ll get a prompt that says “Internet Explorer is not currently your default browser. Would you like to make it your default browser?”

Hitting the enter key or selecting Yes will change the default web browser to Internet Explorer and this effects all other users in the same computer. This is a never ending battle of setting the default web browser. Windows XP’s user interface does not provide you an option to set a per-user default web browser. One setting affects all users, machine-wide. Here’s a solution to this annoying default web browser problem.
Get!T v0.1 - download the unzip files on PSP June 23, 2008
Posted by Jeffrey Vergara in : Sony PSP , add a commentHomebrew developer Maxy_PSP from Team Chilt dropped by the QJ.NET PSP Homebrew Development Forum to release a simple yet convenient homebrew application for the Sony PlayStation Portable. The initial release, Get!T version 0.1, allows users to download files using an interface that utilizes the PSP OSK.
To let you in on what Maxy_PSP came up with, here’s the feature list of Get!T:
- Use of PSP OSK (On Screen Keyboard)
- Use of PSP Internet dialog
- Set Download URL
- Set Save URL
- Automatically detect zip files and ask to unzip them
- Can copy files from one place on memory stick to another
- Automatically detect Local(ms0:/) or Web(http://) Links
Since this is the earliest version, homebrew app Get!T reportedly has a bug that freezes the PSP after users encounter an error message when trying to download. There’s also also a good chunk in Maxy_PSP’s to-do list, such as allow the homebrew app to unrar files and play music files. We’re sure to keep tabs on Get!T as it shapes up, so watch this space for updates!

Safely Login Using An Untrusted Computer Without Disclosing Password June 23, 2008
Posted by Jeffrey Vergara in : Tutorials, Web , add a commentThere are software and hardware based keyloggers and then there is screenshot capture. It is possible to fool all those spy activity but it’s very troublesome. You’ll never know if the public computer (Library, School, Cybercafe etc…) you are using is already infected by such. But don’t worry I found a way that can safely and EASILY login from internet cafes despite keyloggers and spyware.
KYPS is a free reverse proxy server created by Andreas Pashalidis that enables us to log into our accounts from a public/shared computer, without disclosing our password to that computer. KYPS is very easy to use and does not require you to run any software on the public/shared computer. All we have to do is to obtain a list of one-time codes from the KYPS server, print these codes, and keep the printout safely in our wallet (alternatively we could save our codes on our mobile phone or PDA). We can then log into our account using our one-time codes instead of our password.
