Surprisingly, the release of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron) works pretty well in HP Pavilion DV2715nr with just a few fix. After installation Ubuntu desktop will be basically ready to use but the screen will be stucked on 800×600 resolution and wireless is still cannot be used. Installing Ubuntu is very easy and you just need to follow simple steps. You only need 2 additional task to make Ubuntu 8.04 in dv2715nr ready to go.

This is just my little experiment on my recently purchased HP Pavilion dv2715nr Entertainment Notebook PC with pre-installed Windows Vista Home which I don’t really like that much. So I decided to try and install Ubuntu 7.10, I inserted the CD, boot to Ubuntu, it’s flawless until i came to the point that Ubuntu cannot detect my Notebook’s Nvidia Go 7150m graphic card and it won’t start GUI and forced to be in Terminal Mode, I tried to start GDM manually but no avail it won’t start and I keep getting error about my graphic card but I never give up, I download the latest Ubuntu 8.04 Beta and run it although it still cannot detect my graphic card it continues on the GUI in 800×600 screen resolution after finishing the installation.
